The Unquiet Dead: A Psychologist Treats Spirit Possession - Detecting and Removing Earthbound Spirits by Edith Fiore Review by Alan Sanderson This classic text, published in 1987, is the first clearly set-out account of spirit release work, using hypnosis. It is an authoritative and beautifully written account, by a clinical psychologist with great experience, who came to spirit release from past-life therapy. There are many fascinating case studies, with verbatim accounts of the therapeutic interaction. It contains many tips and practical suggestions. The book is written for the general public. It should also be read by every spirit release therapist." Review by Mohinder Goomar, M.D., F.R.C.S., Very good introductory book not only for the laypersons but also for the healthcare providers in medicine, psychology, and psychiatry etc. The case studies provided in the Unquiet Dead are a good sampling of what is happening in the spirit-attachment area. However, the book exclusively focus on the benign forces and it fails to stress, or actually, totally ignores the existence of evil or malignant entities. I am in the unique position of talking about this book/subject not only from personal experiences but also from the perspective of a retired medical professional. It is high time the medical science catches up with this extremely important source of medical and psychological disorders. Review by J. Grocki "Jules" (TN) - See all my reviews First, let me say Thank You to Dr. Fiore for going out on a limb to write such a book. It is a must read , but should be done so with caution. This book is very informative, but a bit misleading from my knowledge base in how Dr. Fiore terms "possession." It seems her modus operandi is to "depossess" every individual that indicates some type of spiritual force that oppresses or dominates an innocent victims' subconscious which subsequently impacts the individuals' conscious activities. According to ancient grounded catholic theology, there are what are termed personal infestations, local infestations, full diabolical possession, diabolical temptations and the like. Many Protestant theological traditions also use terms such as strongholds for personal negative force intrusions as well as full possession from what I understand. There is a BIG difference in an individual being totally "possessed" and being locally infested. One may also manifest serious pathological behavior due to a physiological brain condition, which could also open the auric field from its weakness to negative forces. Proper discernment of the cause for each individuals' behavior is paramount. So, this book is a good read and well worth it. My advice is to study more on this from well-grounded theologians from all different religions. Negative force activity is well-documented in many traditions. |
