Open Letter to President Elect Obama

Mr. Obama,

      Your campaign was based on a simple, but profound promise — change. There is one important aspect of the current bureaucracy in Washington, D.C., that desperately needs to change — UFO secrecy.

As president elect you have most likely been briefed on the more than 240 alien incursions of the restricted/prohibited airspace over Washington, D.C., that have transpired since 1948. Pentagon intelligence officers may have also briefed you on the failed military intercepts that occurred in this same period. Some of these hostile intercepts proved fatal to our veteran, combat pilots — a tragic waste of life. However, the attempted military intercepts in 1948, 1952, 2002, etc. are what directly led to the current political stance on this subject — total silence.

Despite the fact that hundreds of people have seen and or photographed non-terrestrial, exotic aerospace craft passing over sensitive areas of Washington, D.C., we are told that officially nothing unusual is going on. This situation has got to change. However, I am certain that your transition team leaders, specifically John Podesta, will urge you not to address this issue publicly.

You see, in 2005, soon after I broke the story internationally of UFOs being photographed over the Capitol, I spoke at length with Mr. Podesta’s public relations firm in D.C. because they had issued press releases regarding their desire to end UFO secrecy. Therefore, it seemed like a good idea to contact them because I was looking for a public official to address the UFO situation in D.C. on the record. However, I was told by Podesta’s people that despite the fact that most of these alien incursions were witnessed by credible citizens of D.C. and or seen or radar scopes, and or photographed, no one holding political or public office would be willing to address the fact that UFOs have been repeatedly violating our sovereign airspace.

The reason for the official silence was actually quite simple. No one really knew what to do about it. More importantly, if an elected official were to officially admit anything publicly regarding these alien incursions… that individual (and perhaps their Federal agency) would be held personally responsible by the public to deal with the problem.

During your campaign, you stated your willingness to have a dialogue with all world leaders regardless of their political views. Are you willing to engage in an open, diplomatic dialogue with the occupants of the unidentified aerospace craft visiting Washington, D.C.? If not, why not?

As reported in my book “Close Encounters on Capitol Hill,” according to NATO’s classified assessment in the 1960s, many of the occupants of these exotic space craft are in fact human. More importantly, NATO concluded that these people did not pose a direct threat to our security. If that is true, then why should we continue to deny their existence and refuse to engage them in open debate? In closing, I would like to make it crystal clear that this is an ongoing situation that will not go away simply by ignoring or denying it exists. 

These exotic craft have been sighted and or photographed all over the world. But, they are also very interested in Washington, D.C. To illustrate my point, below are some of the most recent eyewitness accounts and photographs from our nation’s capital.

Addendum
The following alien incursion took place in Washington, D.C., at approximately 9:00 p.m., on September 23, 2008. According to one of the witnesses,

“My family and I were driving down Constitution Street when we first saw three unidentified lights moving very smoothly and rather slowly behind the Freedom statue that stands on top of the Capitol building’s rotunda.

When we got to Union Station, we had a better view of the Capitol and the UFOs were still in sight, but now they were going in a different direction. On our way back home, we got the best view yet of these UFOs. We could see the light on these craft were circular, but since it was night we couldn’t actually see the actual structure of the spacecraft. We went back to Capitol Hill later that night with binoculars, but we didn’t see anything. However when we were there, a security helicopter was flying around the Capitol with a search light.”

Another alien incursion occurred in Washington, D.C., at 10:06 p.m., on August 17, 2008. According to the photographer/witness,

“While standing on a roof top on 13th and N streets NW, I captured a high-resolution image of a spherical UFO that left a trail of energy as it accelerated into the night sky. I was using a Nikon D700 which is the most advanced digital camera currently available on the market. My sample shows a bright, white, egg-shaped anomaly with blue and red lights that is leaving a trail of residual energy at a 45 degree angle. No noise was heard? The image I obtained is extraordinary!”

Another alien incursion occurred in Washington, D.C., at approximately 8:00 p.m., on August 13, 2008. According to one of the witnesses,

“My friends and were on a trip to D.C. That evening, we were walking west on the National Mall towards the Smithsonian Metro Station when I noticed a strange object in the sky. It appeared to be cylindrical in shape and dark, gray maybe or a dull metallic color; it was relatively well offset by the colors of the evening sky so it was plainly visible to the naked eye. It seemed to be fairly large and distant and was totally stationary for some time.

After I first noticed it I didn’t point it out until I realized that it had not moved at all for close to thirty seconds. I then pointed the UFO out to my four friends who all saw it, but we could not decide what it was. The general consensus seemed to be that it might be a kite of some sort, but to me it seemed too high in the sky and too large to be a kite. Also, the area of the sky [which is restricted/prohibited airspace] it was in did not see like a place where anyone would fly a kite of any sort. I pulled out my cell phone to take a picture of the UFO.

The clouds behind the object could be seen clearly on the screen, but the UFO did not appear in my camera despite that fact that as I mentioned before it was plainly visible to the naked eye, a fact that I pointed out to my friends who all saw it. If I recall correctly, I also heard someone in another group that we passed that night mention that they witnessed the UFO.

The strange object remained stationary for several minutes before moving slightly down and to the right and away from our view. The object was perhaps 30 to 40 degrees in the sky to the WNW, generally in the area of the sky between the Washington monument and the White House, but probably more distant. It particularly struck me as odd because this is not a residential area, and as far as I know restricted air space, also this is the area of the sky were aircraft approach Reagan National airport.”

Another alien incursion occurred in Washington, D.C., at 8:09 p.m. on August 4, 2007. An anonymous photographer was taking pictures while standing at the Washington Monument which is the center of P51 (prohibited/restricted) airspace of the nation’s capital. The photographer did not see the triangular UFO while taking the picture. Photographic analysis shows the UFO was emitting an exotic energy field propulsion as it moved through the sky — see image below.

8 Tremendously Important Ways That Gratitude Can Change Your Life

It’s amazing how one simple, easy, positive action can change so much in a person’s life.

One of the things that has had the biggest effect on my life is the realization of the power of gratitude. Simply giving thanks.

It has affected everything. It has made me a more positive person. A more productive person. A better achiever. A better husband and father and son and brother (at least, I like to think so). A happier person. I’m not perfect, but gratitude has made me better.

Can it change your life as well? I can guarantee it. You might not get the exact same benefits as I have, but there’s no doubt in my mind that the simple act of gratitude on a regular basis will change anyone’s life, positively and immediately. How many other changes can claim to be that quick, that easy, and that profound?

Let’s take a look at some of the ways you can incorporate gratitude into your life, and how it will change your life. These are just some examples, based on my experience and the experiences of others I’ve talked with, and not all will apply to your life. But pick and choose the ones you think will work for you.

1. Have a morning gratitude session. Take one minute in the morning (make it a daily ritual) to think of the people who have done something nice for you, to think of all the things in your life you’re grateful for. You won’t get to everything in one minute, but it’s enough. And it will instantly make your day better, and help you start your day off right. Can you think of a better use of one minute?

2. When you’re having a hard day … make a gratitude list. We all have those bad days sometimes. We are stressed out from work. We get yelled at by someone. We lose a loved one. We hurt a loved one. We lose a contract or do poorly on a project. One of the things that can make a bad day much better is making a list of all the things you’re thankful for. There are always things to be thankful for — loved ones, health, having a job, having a roof over your head and clothes on your back, life itself.

3. Instead of getting mad at someone, show gratitude. That’s a major switching of attitudes — actually a complete flip. And so this isn’t always easy to do. But I can promise you that it’s a great thing to do. If you get mad at your co-worker, for example, because of something he or she did … bite your tongue and don’t react in anger. Instead, take some deep breaths, calm down, and try to think of reasons you’re grateful for that person. Has that person done anything nice for you? Has that person ever done a good job? Find something, anything, even if it’s difficult. Focus on those things that make you grateful. It will slowly change your mood. And if you get in a good enough mood, show your gratitude to that person. It will improve your mood, your relationship, and help make things better. After showing gratitude, you can ask for a favor — can he please refrain from shredding your important documents in the future? And in the context of your gratitude, such a favor isn’t such a hard thing for the co-worker to grant.

4. Instead of criticising your significant other, show gratitude. This is basically the same as the above tactic, but I wanted to point out how gratitude can transform a marriage or relationship. If you constantly criticize your spouse, your marriage will slowly deteriorate — I promise you. It’s important to be able to talk out problems, but no one likes to be criticized all the time. Instead, when you find yourself feeling the urge to criticize, stop and take a deep breath. Calm down, and think about all the reasons you’re grateful for your spouse. Then share that gratitude, as soon as possible. Your relationship will become stronger. Your spouse will learn from your example — especially if you do this all the time. Your love will grow, and all will be right in the world.

5. Instead of complaining about your kids, be grateful for them. Many parents (myself included) get frustrated with their children. They are too slow to do things, they have a bad attitude, they can’t clean up after themselves, and they pick their nose too much. Unfortunately, sometimes parents will communicate that frustration to their children too often, and the kids will begin to feel bad about themselves. Many parents have done this, and while it’s not perfect, it’s a part of parenthood. But there’s a better way: follow the method above of calming down when you’re frustrated, and thinking of reasons you’re grateful to your child. Share these reasons with your child. And then take the opportunity to teach them, instead of criticizing them.

6. When you face a major challenge, be grateful for it. Many people will see something difficult as a bad thing. If something goes wrong, it’s a reason to complain, it’s a time of self-pity. That won’t get you anywhere. Instead, learn to be grateful for the challenge — it’s an opportunity to grow, to learn, to get better at something. This will transform you from a complainer into a positive person who only continues to improve. People will like you better and you’ll improve your career. Not too shabby.

7. When you suffer a tragedy, be grateful for the life you still have. I’ve recently lost an aunt, and my children recently lost a grandmother. These tragedies can be crippling if you let them overcome you. And while I’m not saying you shouldn’t grieve — of course you should — you can also take away something even greater from these tragedies: gratitude for the life you still have. Appreciation for the fleeting beauty of life itself. Love for the people who are still in your life. Take this opportunity to show appreciation to these people, and to enjoy life while you can.

8. Instead of looking at what you don’t have, look at what you do have. Have you ever looked around you and bemoaned how little you have? How the place you live isn’t your dream house, or the car you drive isn’t as nice as you’d like, or your peers have cooler gadgets or better jobs? If so, that’s an opportunity to be grateful for what you already have. It’s easy to forget that there are billions of people worse off than you — who don’t have much in the way of shelter or clothes, who don’t own a car and never will, who don’t own a gadget or even know what one is, who don’t have a job at all or only have very menial, miserable jobs in sweatshop conditions. Compare your life to these people’s lives, and be grateful for the life you have. And realize that it’s already more than enough, that happiness is not a destination — it’s already here.

On September 18, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released guidance on a regulatory framework for approving the entrance of genetically modified (GM) animals into the nation’s food supply. The term “guidance” is agency-speak for the law will look something like this. Put another way, the FDA has offered advice, considerably weaker than legally enforceable regulation. With the announcement, a 60-day period for public comment was opened.  

The only GM animal currently licensed for sale in the U.S. is the glow-in-the-dark zebra fish, a pet. With the exception of a few drunk frat boys, this fish is not expected to be consumed by humans, and its need for warm water precludes any possibility of it escaping into the wild. But the glowing zebra fish will soon have some GM company in stores near you.  

The new guidance is primarily directed at animals genetically modified for food-production purposes, but it’s based on the approval process used for animals that are genetically modified for pharmacological purposes, such as pigs designed to grow human livers, or goats that produce insulin in their milk. Under the guidance, all GM animals, be they of the farm or pharma variety, will be classified as drugs.  

Technically, the drug is the bit of foreign DNA that’s spliced into the animal’s cells, and the FDA will grant or deny approval to just those bits of DNA, not to the whole organism. This creates a dangerous regulatory gray area, says Jaydee Hanson, a policy analyst at the Center for Food Safety, who calls this arrangement a “fiction.”  

“The gene is in every cell of the animal, and regulating the animal is the only tool they have to control these genes, but they say they’re only regulating the gene, not the animal,” he says. “Drugs don’t get loose and breed with each other. Animals do.”  

As a case in point he mentions the “AquAdvantage” line of GM salmon created by Aqua Bounty Technologies of Waltham, Mass., in 2001. The regulated “drug” in this case is a gene that makes salmon secrete extra growth hormone, causing the fish to reach maturity in 18 months instead of 30.  

Should any of these fish escape into the wild, they would take their recombinant genes with them, posing unknown — and therefore, Hanson says, unacceptable — risk to wild salmon stocks and the ecosystems they inhabit.  

It’s rumored that AquAdvantage salmon will be the first GM food animal approved for sale by the FDA. Meanwhile, a growing number of GM animals are being developed for the food market, says Hanson, and given this fact he thinks an approval process is long overdue. But while steps toward the creation of a regulatory framework for GM food animals are steps in the right direction, he says the FDA’s guidance as currently written leaves much to be desired.  

“They’re not offering good peer review, because the drug-approval process is held in secret,” he says. This is ostensibly to protect trade secrets, but it’s still a bad idea, says Hanson, who suggests that lack of transparency could compromise the integrity of the approval process.  

“The genetically modified food industry is a small world,” he says. “You’re going to have someone who used to work for a company who now works for FDA, or serves on its review panel, in the position to approve something from their former company.”  

Many other food activists, policy analysts, and interested parties are also taking issue with the FDA’s stance, contained in the guidance, against the labeling of foods containing GM animal products. Only foods that can be shown to have dietary properties different from their non-GM counterparts require labeling.  

“They’re talking about pigs that are going to have mouse genes in them, and this is not going to be labeled?” says Jean Halloran, director of food policy for Consumers Union, which publishes Consumer Reports magazine. “We are close to speechless on this.”  

Another concern is how the proprietary rights associated with modified genes will be enforced. Because genetic modifications are easily traceable, small livestock producers who introduce GM animals into their herds — or who acquire animals with modified genes unintentionally — might someday receive an unexpected bill for the use of those genes if they are traced to future generations of animals.  

Producers of GM seeds have already sued farmers on such grounds, including cases in which the defendant’s crops were contaminated by someone else’s GM pollen from neighboring fields. Hanson says most cattle growers aren’t paying enough attention to the prospect.  

“The breeding industry is mostly concerned with tracking animals descended ffrom clones,” he says. Clones are genetic copies of other animals, but don’t necessarily have foreign DNA inserted. But most GM mammals, Hanson points out, are clones. “Once you get it right,” he says, “you clone it.”  

On September 19, the day after the FDA’s “Draft Guidance on the Regulation of Genetically Modified Animals” was released, the USDA announced a call for public comment on the need to regulate the movement of GM animals to ensure they don’t mix with wild animals or other livestock.  

For producers and consumers alike, the onslaught of new biotech developments and the rapidly expanding world of associated potential consequences presents a near-overwhelming amount of information to digest.  

But if ever there was an important time to comment on food and food safety, says Hanson, “this is it.”

Soul-Centered Healing #18: Healing the Inner Selves

In the last essay, I talked about the mind’s creation of ego-states during times of trauma, terror, or intolerable pain. I described the ego-states as inner beings who, once created, continue to exist at an unconscious level even after the trauma has passed. If you haven’t read that essay already, it would probably be good to read that one first. You can find it here.

In Soul-Centered Healing, ego-states are often a central focus in the healing process. They are frequently involved in, or at the root of, a person’s fears, misperceptions, and reactions. For example, if a five year-old child is physically hit by a parent and feels the parent’s emotional hatred, in that moment an ego-state may be created to protect the self against the pain of such deep betrayal and hurt. The ego-state’s protection may be to close off all emotional connection to the parent at this level and to go numb.

In the future, then, this five year-old ego-state may be triggered when the person, now an adult, becomes emotionally involved with someone where the feelings of love also trigger the ego-state’s feelings of pain and rejection. The ego-state responds in the only way it knows - closing off the emotions and going numb. The conscious person may be aware of reacting, but not understand what has been triggered or why.

In Soul-Centered Healing, the aim is to determine whether ego-states are involved in a client’s problems or presenting complaints. If there are, then they can be identified and communicated with directly. The goal of the healing process is to help ego-states share their experience to the conscious mind and release the pain and distress they have carried for so long.

Once released, however, the ego-state still does not dissolve, like air let out of a balloon, but moves to a place of Light and comfort within the self. For the ego-state, it’s a place of integration. We would say it has moved to a new consciousness.

Because every ego-state is unique to the person, we never know ahead of time what ego-states will come forward in a person’s healing process. Each ego-state has its own story. This also includes ego-states that have come forward from past lives. In Soul-Centered Healing, it is not unusual to find an interweaving between past- and present-life ego-states.

While we cannot predict what ego-states will come forward for a person, we can predict how they will respond to certain questions and how to guide them through the process of sharing and release. Essentially, they are beings in pain, and so need to be treated as beings in pain. If we push too quickly or touch too directly on their pain, we are likely to meet resistance. They may refuse to communicate. They may become frightened at this kind of direct contact or confused about it.

To avoid these pitfalls, the first step in Soul-Centered Healing when making contact with any ego-state is to ask if it is receiving Light for itself. If it isn’t, or if it’s not sure, then we ask if it is willing to receive the Light now. Most ego-states agree, and for those who are still reluctant, there are techniques to help make it safe enough for them to at least try it.

This step is so important because it elicits the ego-state’s cooperation right from the start. We can predict, with almost one hundred percent certainty, that an ego-state’s response to the Light will be positive. It will say that it feels better, that it does wants to have healing for itself, and that it is willing to share what it needs to in order to have that release. It is basically the same yes response people have to the Light in the near-death-experience and that earthbound spirits have when they are made aware of the Light. They describe it as infinite love, acceptance and understanding. Ego-states, at their own level of consciousness, seem to have this same kind of awakening.

A client’s higher self is the part that can bring Light - or more Light - to an ego-state. As a soul function, the higher self is a conduit of the soul’s Light and can help an ego-state reconnect to this Source. Because of the dissociative nature of their creation, it isn’t unusual to find that ego-states have become cut off from their inner Light.

Once an ego-state is receiving Light and understands about the healing process, then the sharing can begin. This also is unique – not only what is shared, but how. The sharing may take the form of physical sensations, feelings, visual memories, or an entire reliving of the experience. This isn’t predictable and it seems to occur in the way that it needs to.

An ego-state may also need to do its sharing in stages. What they carry may be too intense to share all at once, either for the ego-state or the conscious self. The higher self can help the ego-state to break its sharing into tolerable pieces.

Once the sharing is complete, an ego-state can release its pain and distress. From a psychological point of view, once the experience has been shared to consciousness, there is no longer a dissociation or a need to protect the conscious self. In effect, the ego-state’s services are no longer needed. From its point of view, it has been relieved of duty. The release is a transformation of consciousness for the ego-state. With the release of its pain or fear, it can receive the greater Light and move to integration where it will now be in alignment with the conscious self in present reality.

For the conscious person, the healing of ego-states means a resolution of unconscious defenses and painful feelings. When an ego-state releases and integrates, then the past becomes the past. It no longer lives in its original consciousness. Even if there is some triggering, it does not carry the emotional or psychological power that it had before. A person is not knocked off-center so quickly. He or she is able to stay more clear in a situation that before would have triggered a reaction.

Working with ego-states is a reclaiming of the self and the truth of one’s own experience. Ego-states are the missing pieces one has known about at some level all along, but could never find. When an ego-state shares what it needs to, its experience “clicks” into place at some level for the conscious person as well. It’s like remembering a name you’ve been trying to recall all day. When it finally comes, it’s a resolution and relief, only for ego-states and the conscious self, the relief is usually deeper and more profound.

The Stephenville UFOs Are Back - October 2008

The Stephenville UFOs are back and so are the military jets that chase them. A number of unidentified lights were again seen in the skies over Earth County, Texas, beginning on October 21, 2008. The lights displayed various colors and moved rapidly in all directions over Stephenville for two nights in a row, but that was just the prelude to a much more exciting incident which occurred the next night in nearby Dublin, Texas.

On October 23, 2008, several teenagers and a few adults were at Dublin High School in the late evening when they saw an oval-shaped object with brilliant lights on it. Andy Monrreal used his mom’s digital video camera to film the object for about a minute. Monrreal gave a description of the object to a news crew from News 8 (WFAA) in Dallas/Fort Worth. He said, “”You could see a shape. It was like a complete circle.”

Monrreal’s parents also saw the object and his father commented, “”I never seen nothing like that in my life… big lights and everything.” His mother said, “”It was a round thing. You could see lights around it, flickering and changing. It was awesome. Just turning and flickering.” A total of eleven witnesses reported seeing the same object and many confirm that military jets were in the area at the same time.

In what seems like a rerun of the original events that brought so much attention to Erath County back in January, the Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth confirms that at least seven F-16s were training in the area at the time the object was observed. However, these training exercises were not announced in advance and the area where the UFO and the jets were seen is not airspace generally reserved for training.

Erath County, Texas, became known as a UFO hotspot during January of 2008 when one mass sighting and several subsequent incidents brought the area to the attention of the worldwide news media. Amid conflicting statements from local military authorities commenting on aerial training maneuvers and inept UFO research organization investigations, the sightings were blamed on everything from stars, moons and planets to flocks of birds, untrained observers, military exercises and misidentified aircrafts.

It wasn’t until after I mentioned that a UFO flyover of the Bush Ranch in nearby Crawford, Texas, might have explained the large number of military jets observed in the skies over Erath County on January 8, 2008, that some investigators and reporters began to look at the Stephenville incidents more seriously. In fact, the Mutual UFO Network ultimately turned up evidence that radar reports indicated at least one of several objects seen over the Stephenville area on January 8, 2008, and being pursued by military jets was coming directly from the direction of the Bush Ranch.

The large oval object seen over Erath County on October 23, 2008 is similar to one observed on January 8, 2008, by several law enforcement officers in and around the Stephenville area. These officers were able to see more detail than most of the residents that just reported the lights at that time. The same object was later observed by Ricky Sorrells of Dublin who has seen it several times since. He said that the thing hovered just three hundred feet above his head in a field behind his home and may have been the size of two or three football fields.

Sorrells’ story became troubling as reports of harassment by military authorities surfaced. After reporting his sighting to a local news reporter, he claims that military jets and helicopters started flying at all hours over his property disturbing livestock and keeping him from getting a good night’s sleep. Even worse, Sorrells’ says that he has been directly and indirectly threatened to “keep your mouth shut about what you saw.”

Although the national media is ignoring these latest rounds of UFO sightings and jet chases, the Stephenville story is one that will not just go away because reporters are busy with politics and economic issues. What they do not seem to understand is that this UFO flap and others currently going on all over the world will someday have a direct impact on those issues. If these sightings persist and the government finally runs out of excuses and their ability to influence what the media says about them, that day may not be long in coming.

This is an excellent essay by Glenn Gould on the issue of disclosure. I posted another article by him last month (Moving to Disclosure: Another View). In this essay he raises the question of whether those calling for disclosure (including yours truly) are ready for what he calls the “post-disclosure worldview”. Gould says about it:

The revolution that will follow full disclosure will dwarf all previous epochs. It will be the end of the world as we know it.

He goes on later to say:

The typical ‘Disclosure Activist’ seems to have overlooked what the inevitable change will mean to them on a personal level. Disclosure will be anything but business as usual for planet earth.

Gould goes on to discuss different aspects of disclosure - what prevents it, and what impact it may have on our civilization once the truth is revealed. He does not seem very optimistic that this revolution will happen without a great deal of death and suffering. He doesn’t claim to know how it’s all going to go down, but he’s talking about major areas like the economy, over-population, and energy.

Mr. Gould does mention the spirit dimension, but from my point of view, he passes over it rather quickly. I’m not sure he considers that an acknowledgment of the psychic and spirit realities may be an integral part of the shift that is occurring. This is not spirituality in terms of  any religious dogma, but in terms of other levels of consciousness and being.

At some level, many people resist the disclosure that extraterrestrials exist. Well, many people – maybe the majority – also resist the idea of psychic and spirit realities. I’ve written about this throughout the site, and I’m sure I’ll write about it again, but for now I just want to say that the recognition of spirit realities – and ourselves as spiritual beings – could significantly change the dynamic of the “post-disclosure worldview”. At this moment, I still believe that the awakening to ETs and to spirit realities go, or need to go, hand in hand.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gould raises a critical question for those seeking disclosure: Are we ready?

UFO Disclosure: Critical consideration and Worldviews

One problematic issue regarding the abandonment of secrecy surrounding Extraterrestrial influence on our planet is the post-disclosure worldview. While that subject is on the minds of those who keep secrets secret, it seems to have evaded, for the most part, the thoughts of the more militant members of the groups that demand full disclosure at any price. The post-disclosure world, as seen through the eyes of our governments, is one of unimaginable horror wherein their historic hold on human civilization has ended. Those who insist on full disclosure seem to disregard the ramifications of a world after disclosure, and what that world will mean to them personally. This condition prohibits meaningful dialog between the two viewpoints, thus preventing any consensus on the subject.

Though the younger generation may disagree, full disclosure of persistent Extraterrestrial interaction with Earth is not going to be at all comparable to Steve Jobs or Bill Gates introducing some great new invention or innovation. Some will applaud and cheer, no doubt, but many more will not. Regardless of the method, be it CNN with bold new graphics, or some commandeering of communications by the visitors or their partners; these prospective revelations would be traumatic for all humans. Panic and joy, blank stares and happy faces, and sanctuaries filled with penitent believers will sweep the planet. Full disclosure will be difficult on humanity, due not only to its iconoclast nature, but due mainly to the inevitable collateral cultural damage.

While a massive technological bestowal could positively affect energy and the environment, as well as the human condition in general, that change will also reach into every individual´s life on a personal level. Each “revolution” has been the result of the change of the predominate worldview of the people of earth, from the mercantile and scientific revolutions through the industrial and the technological, or computer revolutions. The revolution that will follow full disclosure will dwarf all previous epochs. It will be “the end of the world as we know it”.

Our governments are chronically aware of this potentially catastrophic shift in our understanding and have consistently acted to prevent it. The power elite have long envisioned this future and want no part of it. The average person, bathed in the media controlled debunking of everything, will not be able to digest it. The typical ‘Disclosure Activist’ seems to have overlooked what the inevitable change will mean to them on a personal level. Disclosure will be anything but business as usual for planet earth.

The release of this information depends on at least two factors of great significance. First, human races need to come to a mutually shared vision of a future unlike any we have seen in recorded history. This worldview transcends nations, cultures and politics. It is a worldview of cosmic proportions. To obtain to our place in the “galactic neighbourhood” requires us to first lay aside our petty selfishness and base desires. Our historic behaviour prohibits our inclusion. Secondly, but of primary import, we will have to forgive, unreservedly, those who have, by acts of omission and commission, kept the veil of secrecy in place regarding extraterrestrial intervention and association these last three generations. An amnesty for this behaviour would arguably, be required before significant information is released on any official level. These seemingly impossible prerequisites must be dealt with prior to full disclosure.

Essentially, something on the order of World Peace must precede Full Disclosure.

Unprecedented change will follow an unimpeded, unmitigated release of decades of unbelievable information. A change this profound, the redirection of “normal” human evolution, has happened in only our oldest memories: these include the Genesis texts and the Sumerian and Akkadian texts of five to seven millennia past. Those writings declare that the trajectory of human evolution was adjusted. Interestingly, these “corrections” all included traumatic reductions in human population. Objectively speaking, this reduction in variables (us) increases homogeneity and simplifies the acceptance of new realities. In the absence of such a unifying and traumatic preparatory process of some kind, new ideas and paradigms simply add to the overabundance of ideas that lead to further cultural, religious and nationalistic divides.

Such apparent divisions keep our species at a low level of sociological development while still allowing sporadic advances in technology. Poor social combined with strong technical skills lead to the world we have today.

In an interview with Linda Howe; Jim Sparks, a long time subject of ET interest, was asked about any information concerning the future of humankind he may have gained in connection with his ET encounters. An interesting observation Mr. Sparks makes is that in both of his alternative visions of potential human futures, one of a “gloomy and fascist” land of darkness, and one of “bright and clean” utopian community, he sees, or senses, only small numbers of people. These divergent paths were presented to him as two alternatives we have to select from as a species. Interesting is the fact that in both alternatives, the numbers of humans involved seems to be far less than presently inhabit the planet.

Human efforts designed to produce utopian societies have ordinarily included some form of genocide. The Persecutions, Inquisitions, Pogroms, the New World, witch-hunts, the American Civil War, Adolf Hitler and the master race, Paul Pot and the Khmer Rouge, the colonial orchestrated tribal terror in Africa: all these forms and many others, include the reduction of variables in the human equation. These actions are even deemed noble and beneficial for the betterment of society by those engaged in them. This form of thinking seems to be consistent throughout the ancient texts, our history and the visions of our future. The problem seems to be genetic: we have a propensity for this form of behaviour.

More than our violent and belligerent traits, we humans have an even more deeply engrained predisposition toward faith. This aspect of our psychologies forms the basis of all our civilizations, and underlies all our financial and monetary institutions. Not even an atheist could deny that the ‘god’ of this age is money. The financial and monetary systems of all civilized nations today have evolved into strictly faith-based fiat currencies.

The concepts of a fractional banking system have reached their absolute limit, and now a quantity of nothing can have an infinite value. Based on the “good faith and confidence” in government and financial institutions, our money today is in reality worth only the materials which constitute it. Without even the semi-rational tangibility of gold to back it, we struggle our entire lives in a quest for more of something that has no real intrinsic value. The ‘world religion of money’ has its own temples, its priest and prophet classes, its angels and demons. This religion has proselytized every nation on earth. While the denominations may vary, the doctrine is consistent. You cannot survive without money. People of the world can do fine without God, but money is the lifeblood of all that calls itself civilized.

All wars are resultant from the struggle for power. Power in this world is the control of energy and finance. And since our faith is predominately in finance, the planned collapse of the world economy would be the decisive battle in a war against our very basest beliefs. The social upheaval and chaos would lead to anarchy and violence. The elite would loose all control of governance and this would open the door for an alternative worldview. The remaining people of earth, immobilized by the catastrophe of global financial collapse, would gladly accept any assistance, from any source. And from the debris of the ruins of our world religion would arise a phoenix of extraterrestrial origin.

Had our species been allowed to naturally evolve, and to simultaneously develop social structures that enhance technological discovery, had we been allowed to mature as a race with a real understanding of community, things would be entirely different. We would eventually have been in a position to take our place in a community that transcends our space and time, and could accept life in the cosmos for what it is. Sadly, this was not the case. Full disclosure of extraterrestrial intervention will be a revelation of biblical proportion, with all that implies.

Incorporating that spiritual dimension, some proponents of disclosure seem to have more of a mystical perspective on the world after disclosure. In the last four decades, the popularity of transcendental and metaphysical concepts has increased to surpass the level of the early 19th century, and parallels the vision and work of Madam H. P. Blatavasky. Theirs is a post-disclosure world of intimate association with Ascended Masters who assist mankind to achieve its true potential, and rise to the level of its Teachers. In essence, technological benefits, offered by the visitors, would allow man to realize his destiny, by alleviating much of the necessity of continually struggling for physical needs.

Militant disclosure advocates seem to fail to create a mental image of a world during and after disclosure, and to act upon this image in a substantive manner, unlike their adversaries, whose actions indicate an intimate awareness of what the process of disclosure will bring. The view of many disclosure proponents is simple: human problems of energy, food and health are mitigated and ameliorated, and we seem to continue being who we were, with perhaps a new set of friends in our cell phones, and possibly a few new reality shows on DTV. This group sees disclosure as simply another area onto which the pervasive concepts of contemporary human civilization, concepts such as trade and politics, or ‘exopolitics’, can be overlaid and perfected.

We know so very little of the actual mindset and motivations of these xenophiles who visit our beautiful planet. Are they merchants, mercenaries or missionaries? Do they share the multifaceted dreams and nightmares of our species? Are they homogenous or are they variegated in character, in sentiment? Are they really interested in us as individuals or are we some kind of resource or commodity?

We will inevitably find out just what is in store for us. Or, perhaps, what we are in the store for. In any event, some of us are aware that our perceptions and beliefs, founded on the accumulation of wealth and the care and feeding of number one, are insufficient and immature at best, and that any future which includes mankind as a member of some far-reaching intergalactic federation is a distant vision. We greet the visitors today with at least four general paradigms; that they are the enemy, they are our benefactors, they are our gods or they are not there at all. Two things are consistent about the nature of this reality that seems to surround us. The universe is stochastic and fractal. Having noted this, one might be horrified to find that our visitors are nothing more than concentrated versions of ourselves, various groups having “discovered” earth, each with its own paradigm and moral inclinations.

Are we simply like those “natives” in 1492, happily and idyllically frolicking naked in the surf and noticing those strange white sails coming over the horizon?

Soul-Centered Healing #17: Ego-States & Sub-Personalities

The Creation of Ego-States

The last two essays in this series on Soul-Centered Healing talked about the higher self and the protective part of the mind. I described them as conscious and perceiving parts of the mind that function independently of the conscious self and usually outside our normal awareness.

There is a third part of the mind that is also conscious and perceiving and that also functions independently of the conscious self. This part of the self is called an ego-state or sub-personality.

If you’ve ever had a blind reaction to someone or a situation, or if you’ve ever said later, “I don’t know what came over me”, chances are you’ve experienced an ego-state. Since ego-states are not “things”, I can’t show you one. We cannot reach into the mind and bring one into the physical. They are created of consciousness, not matter, and their power to affect a person is in their perceptions and reactions to events both in the outer world and in the mind.

Ego-states present as conscious beings. It is a limited consciousness for sure. They are not creative. but they are able to think and communicate. Most perceive themselves as having a body. An ego-state can tell you about itself: it can tell you whether it is in human form or not, what it is wearing, how old it is, whether it is male or female, and where it is. They  feel, and they react to pain and pleasure. The best description I have for them is “psychic beings”.

The Creation of Ego-States.

We all have ego-states. They are created by the mind during experiences in which the conscious self can no longer tolerate what is happening and splits off from conscious awareness. Psychologists call it dissociation. When the conscious self is overwhelmed by pain, terror, or confusion, the mind creates an ego-state to take over consciousness and do what is necessary to survive and/or stop the pain.

“Nature abhors a vacuum.” When the conscious self splits away, it’s as though the mind creates a clone of  the self, a temporary stand-in, whose function is to be the self and survive the moment. Remember too, in that moment the ego-state is a physical being. This body experience is an intregral part of its consciousness.

What the mind creates is a conscious being. This is why sub-personality, in some ways, is a more appropriate term. Ego-states act like beings and usually exhibit personality traits.

Most schools of psychology that recognize ego-states would not go this far. It’s a radical step to say that conscious beings exist within us who perceive and react on their own. It can be difficult for people in our Western culture, with its focus on ego consciousness, to wrap their minds around such a concept. The ego may have a difficult time accepting that it isn’t always captain of the ship.

The Price of Protection

Ego-states are created for protection. Once created, however, the ego-state doesn’t just dissolve or disappear when the trauma has passed. No. When the self resumes consciousness, this inner being moves to an unconscious level where it continues to exist in its own world of consciousness, its timeless reality.

The problem is that most ego-states live in a state of fear or distress. They are not created in the fun, happy times. They are created in times of trauma and pain, and this is the reality they take with them into the unconscious.

Theirs is a reality largely determined by the world in which they were created. It’s a narrow and limited consciousness. Most ego-states are not aware of the conscious person or the present reality. What they see is what they’ve always seen. It’s a thought-reality sustained by the ego-state’s energy and consciousness. We would see it as a slice in time. Yet to the ego-state, it is quite real. They live in their own eternal present unless, or until, they are awakened to a different reality. Like Peter Pan and his band of boys, most ego-states do not grow up.

Problems arise when events in one’s everyday world trigger an ego-state, usually because it matches the ego-state’s own situation, feelings, or perceptions. A feeling of rejection in the present, for example, can trigger a four year-old ego-state who was created in an experience of rejection. The ego-state responds in the only way it knows. It reacts from within its own experience, which from its point of view is still happening.

Ego-states live in a psychic realm that is governed by the laws of consciousness, not matter. It’s a realm where a ten year-old can fly, and a child can hide in a thimble. It’s a realm more akin to the dreamworld, where consciousness lives unfettered from the flesh. In fact, our ego-states often present in our dreams and give us glimpses into this psychic world.

They are created especially in childhood and adolescence when the ego is most vulnerable and still developing. Ego-states are also created in adulthood, but not as frequently, unless a person is subjected to ongoing trauma. An adult’s ego-defenses are usually more developed than a child’s. The adult is more able to deal with the outside world without being overwhelmed.

Not surprisingly, ego-states often appear as a “copy” of the conscious personality at the moment of its creation. It may be wearing the same clothes, be the same age, or be an exact duplicate, for example. However, when called for, they can take any form the mind imagines to meet the needs of the situation. They can be as tiny as Tom Thumb (all the better to hide) or they can be built like the Hulk (waiting to explode).

Ego-states can also take the form of an animal or what we consider an inanimate object, e.g., a box, a wall, or a book. Every ego-state, though, is a unique creation of the person it is part of. We might find similar ego-states among different people because they serve the same function or were created in similar situation, but every ego-state is a unique being and specific to the person.

Soul-Centered Healing also recognizes that some ego-states come forward from the soul’s past lives. They too are inner beings and can tell you about themselves and the experiences they carry. It is not at all unusual for past life ego-states to come forward when I am working with a client. Like the concept of ego-states as inner beings, however, the idea of past life ego-states goes beyond modern psychology altogether.

The Healing Process

In Soul-Centered Healing, ego-states are frequently a central focus in the healing process because they are so often a source of confusion, pain, and distress.

The conscious person is usually aware when an ego-state has been triggered, though they wouldn’t necessarily think about it in those terms. A panic attack, a fit of rage, or a sudden feeling of rejection could all be examples. A person knows when these feelings and thoughts have been triggered, but usually does not understand why or why they are so intense. The person may give little thought  to the experience after wards, unless it got them into trouble in some way, or if they are beginning to recognize it as a pattern that is causing serious problems.

In Soul-Centered Healing, we work directly with ego-states through the use of hypnosis. The client’s higher self is able to review problem areas and determine if any ego-states are involved. If there are, then the aim of healing is to help them share their experience to the conscious mind and release the pain and distress they have been carrying. This is basic Freudian psychology: bringing the repressed experience to consciousness leads to abreaction and release.

According to the laws of physics, America cannot continue to consume at the rate we have without depleting the resources necessary to survive. Yet, we have an economy and a style of living that is based on consumption. This is the engine that drives our economy. It’s easy to see that something’s got to give.

It won’t be the resources. Unless we learn how to multiply loaves and fishes, the resources will run out. There will be no more to give. That only leaves the option of changing the way we live if we are to survive – not just as a nation, but as a society. There are many who believe that we have already gone too far and are headed into a human catastrophe where civilization becomes a thin veneer.

We have been trying to put the brakes on. Whether we can do it, I don’t know. I prefer to be optimistic. I believe people will do what is necessary and will pull together when it’s made clear that this is the only way it’s going to work.

The following is an excellent article from New Scientist on the problem about shifting our economic paradigm from one based on consumption to one based on sustainability. It’s not clear what that eco-economy would be. I don’t know either if we’ll find it unless it’s based on spiritual as well as sociological principles. Instead of competition and dog eat dog, we need a spirit of cooperation, conservation, and an eye to the greater good. As they mention at the end of the article, to the mainstream economist this all sounds utopian and naive. The short-term answer to being awash in paper may be to create even more. At some point, though, it will have to come down to earth. - Tom Z

THE graphs climbing across these pages (see graph, right, or explore in more detail) are a stark reminder of the crisis facing our planet. Consumption of resources is rising rapidly, biodiversity is plummeting and just about every measure shows humans affecting Earth on a vast scale. Most of us accept the need for a more sustainable way to live, by reducing carbon emissions, developing renewable technology and increasing energy efficiency.

But are these efforts to save the planet doomed? A growing band of experts are looking at figures like these and arguing that personal carbon virtue and collective environmentalism are futile as long as our economic system is built on the assumption of growth. The science tells us that if we are serious about saving Earth, we must reshape our economy.

This, of course, is economic heresy. Growth to most economists is as essential as the air we breathe: it is, they claim, the only force capable of lifting the poor out of poverty, feeding the world’s growing population, meeting the costs of rising public spending and stimulating technological development - not to mention funding increasingly expensive lifestyles. They see no limits to that growth, ever.

In recent weeks it has become clear just how terrified governments are of anything that threatens growth, as they pour billions of public money into a failing financial system. Amid the confusion, any challenge to the growth dogma needs to be looked at very carefully. This one is built on a long-standing question: how do we square Earth’s finite resources with the fact that as the economy grows, the amount of natural resources needed to sustain that activity must grow too? It has taken all of human history for the economy to reach its current size. On current form it will take just two decades to double.

In this special issue, New Scientist brings together key thinkers from politics, economics and philosophy who profoundly disagree with the growth dogma but agree with the scientists monitoring our fragile biosphere. The father of ecological economics, Herman Daly, explains why our economy is blind to the environmental costs of growth (”The World Bank’s blind spot”), while Tim Jackson, adviser to the UK government on sustainable development, crunches numbers to show that technological fixes won’t compensate for the hair-raising speed at which the economy is expanding (”Why politicians dare not limit economic growth”).

Gus Speth, one-time environment adviser to President Jimmy Carter, explains why after four decades working at the highest levels of US policy-making he believes green values have no chance against today’s capitalism (”Champion for green growth”), followed by Susan George, a leading thinker of the political left, who argues that only a global government-led effort can shift the destructive course we are on (”We must think big to fight environmental disaster”).

For Andrew Simms, policy director of the London-based New Economics Foundation, it is crucial to demolish one of the main justifications for unbridled growth: that it can pull the poor out of poverty (”The poverty myth”). And the broadcaster and activist David Suzuki explains how he inspires business leaders and politicians to change their thinking (”Interview with an environmental activist”).

Just what a truly sustainable economy would look like is explored in “Life in a land without growth”, when New Scientist uses Daly’s blueprint to imagine life in a society that doesn’t use up resources faster than the world can replace them. Expect tough decisions on wealth, tax, jobs and birth rates. But as Daly says, shifting from growth to development doesn’t have to mean freezing in the dark under communist tyranny. Technological innovation would give us more and more from the resources we have, and as philosopher Kate Soper argues in “Nothing to fear from curbing growth”, curbing our addiction to work and profits would in many ways improve our lives.

It is a vision John Stuart Mill, one of the founders of classical economics, would have approved of. In his Principles of Political Economy, published in 1848, he predicted that once the work of economic growth was done, a “stationary” economy would emerge in which we could focus on human improvement: “There would be as much scope as ever for all kinds of mental culture, and moral and social progress… for improving the art of living and much more likelihood of it being improved, when minds cease to be engrossed by the art of getting on.”

Today’s economists dismiss such ideas as naive and utopian, but with financial markets crashing, food prices spiralling, the world warming and peak oil approaching (or passed), they are becoming harder than ever to ignore.
